+ 2ND POEMS: Some Final Measures; Poem With Metaphors

The Sacrificial Lamb of God was born to the highly favored Ewe.

Herod, the elder fox, seethed in spite and wanted to do

great harm to the newborn, sparing no effort or degree:

a multitude of infants slain to ensure efficiency,

seeking the even distribution of inflicted fatality.

Author's Notes/Comments:

John 1:29; Romanos the Melodist decribes the Holy Theotokos Amd Ever Virgin Mary to a Ewe, in keeping with the metaphor of the Lamb of God, in the first stanza of his Kontakion, On The Lament Of The Mother Of God; Matthew 2:16; in Luke 13:32, Jesus calls Herod Antipas "that fox," and I assume the same would apply to his father, Herod the so-called Great; Matthew 2:17-18.
