You declared joy in God, Who is our common Salvation;

Love, Praise and Joy give our souls' chief exultation---

among the redeemed of the great congregation.

Line 1 alludes to Psalm 35:9 and Jude 3;

Line 2 alludes to Psalm 70:4;

Line 3 alludes to Psalm 35:18:  these allusions and/or quotations will appear elsewhere through the poems I have posted here.
