@ 27.055 MHz: Ad Astra; Elegy For Sporus; And A Prayer For Nero's Damnation

Nero was the greatest of horses' asses and fools---

not least for the way he treated you (none can refute me):

to inflict upon you this horrible perfidy,

the removal (at his command) of your boyish jewels,

a mutilation to mar your long-haired, slender beauty.
Damn Nero, that bastard, that mincing travesty
of all that is humane; that doggerelist of Poetry,

and maker of many martyrs of Early Christianity:

for this he deserves the roast and sear, in agony,

suffered by those deserving of damnation;
for all these, hellfire will scorch him; and for your castration.

Such a heartbreaking atrocity

Such a heartbreaking atrocity that I want to believe it isn't true, but I know the demonic tyrant was that evil. The rage in your unflinching expression is shared by any reader with a heart. Your excellent poetry doesn't shirk from reality and the desire for justice.

Despite being so badly

Despite being so badly treated by Nero, Sporus was with him when he suicided after the Senate had voted the death penalty for that bestial emperor.  Thank you for your kind comment.
