Another Christian Poem, To The Poet, KAHV 4862

I know how surreptitiously she (whom you named Aurore)

plotted that scholarly crisis that harshly slammed the door

upon that mine from which you had gladly derivied all your

poetic tropes in form of simile and metaphor;

and I, whom Christ, through Grace, deigned to redeem, save, and restore

despite perfidious sins and fallible flaws---galore---

invite you to the peace He gave me (nineteen ninety-four;

in that first month, the chilliest of all twelve, January;

dismal at first, but by the ninth day---most extraordinary).

Like me, relieved of fear of death; on your way to Christ's Home,

trace tropes of Faith from Antioch---Alexandria---Rome:

and in that great triumverate (each one a thriving city):

to find the Gospel three, compassion, courtesy and pity.
