At The Words Of A Dying Man

I feel Death seeping into all my limbs:

this is not just one of some old man's whims.

My entire body now begins to fail,

but this decrepitude will not prevail:

because Christ promised me eternal life,

despite the flesh's agony and strife.

In weakness, I enjoy His firm protection,

assured by His triumphant Resurrection.

I will soar, starward, to the Heavenly

precincts of His endless eternity;

where I, a part of His Great Congregation,

will still rejoice in the Common Salvation

wherein my soul achieves full exultation,

redeemed, in full, from sin's fierce aggravation.

Starward

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem was written after a sleepless night of the most overwhelming physical agony I have ever experienced.

I am truly distressed by your relentless suffering, but also amazed that you've found the inner strength to transcend it with unwavering faith. The fact that you could compose such a victorious testimony in great distress is confirmation of your gift, your sincerity and and your ultimate triumph. May God comfort and bless you.
