In Elementary School Art Class, After Learning About Grandma Moses

We thought that painting, as art, should be fun;

therefore, not subject to skilled discipline.

They showed us paintings signed by "Grandama Moses";

and we thought that, with not much preparation,

we could achieve the same in demonstration.

Picking the crusty boogers from our noses,

we put our paint smocks on, then slapped some paint

on paper, without purpose or restraint.

Because our talents were not proved by fact,

we called our products "free form," or 'abstract."
