Old Advice To New Playground Victims

Once young, now old, I wish someone had said

these words I would have kept safe in my head.

Bullies prefer an easy victory

gained with an early immediacy:

paraded with efforts to gain attention

to feel much better about their pretension.

But when time has reached its last destination,

the bully will have to give explanation

of all his unrepented cruelty,

still unabsolved, with all his perfidy.

Playground excuses that he had once fudged

will fail at God Throne, where he will be judged.

He, who, with fists or words, gave you a slam

will learn, someday, that God does give a damn.
