Editorial, 1

Like Thomas Jones and Wallace Stevens before me,

I, too, dislike editors' tyranny.
But the internet's attractive liberty,

allows any shnook and schlemiel that may be

lurkimg about to write slovenly

throwbacks, or throwups, of words in travesty

of decent verbal skill and call it . . . poetry.

Lack of compositional couth does not guarantee

that their lines ring more authentically.

I hear you! It certainly is a double-edged sword: this free for all, these open floodgates, this packed arena . . . but then, without editors acting as elite gatekeepers of artistic worthiness, some who may never have had a voice can find expression. And one person's drivel is another person's treasure.

That said, I have many times felt overloaded by the volume of ""slovenly/ throwbacks, or throwups, /of words in travesty/ of decent verbal skill and call it . . . poetry. " (Well said!) But then I'll find that pin of light shining in the haystack and I'll think: it was worth the hunt.

Great commentary on our virtual literary universe.

Thank you.  The quality of your poetry towers above all of our aspirations.  And, reading it, I get spoiled and expect others to meet those basic standards.  And I understand that typos happen---and, in my stuff, they happen with a regularity that is frightening---but I do think there is an increasing disregard for proper spelling, grammar, and form/lineage.  But thanks for your comment and your encouragement.

You certainly raise the bar

You certainly raise the bar with your variety of true art. I only wish I had time to comment on them all. I don't believe I've ever encountered a wordsmith who was able to produce such a high volume of content while maintaining a high standard of quality. That's no small thing.

Thank you so much for that

Thank you so much for that compliment.  I think the quantity of production has increased, right now, because I have little else to think about while this affliction still limits my mobility and ability.  I am facing a likely possibility of two surgeries in the next couple of months, and that may slow my posting down significantly.  Your words of encouragement have affected me very profoundly, and your comments have made quite a bit possible for me that, prior to this spring, would not have been possible.
