Comrade Lenin did
say that deaths must occur to
achieve the Marxist
good. That was acceptable---
it was for the People's sake---
until your life was condemned.

Author's Notes/Comments:
Although I prefer, mostly, to comply with the format of the five line tanka, I acknowledge the precedent of Mokichi Saito, who extended the traditional Tanka by one line of seven syllables. In this case, and with the number six being used in the New Testament as a symbol of imperfection or downright evil, the extension seemed appropriate in a Tanka about a Bolshevik.
