During Diocletian's Retirement

You asked for entrance; but unlike your spiritual father's way,

you do not seem to have much of interest to write or say.

The knowledge that you think you have would fit on some flash card;

as insubstantial as a cabbage fart your bung blows hard.



Author's Notes/Comments: 

They tell me that Diocletian, considered by some to be the most virulent and most vinctive persecutor of the early Christians (the real ones and the ritualists as well), resigned the imperial responsibility and retired to a more rural residence, where he cultivated cabbages (hence the reference to that in the final line).
