The crown you cannot refuse;
but settled on your royal seat,
you can slip those uncomfortable shoes
from your confined, lace-stockinged feet.
So many royal rules---
perhaps they are an official reaction
to your Uncle's regency: the fools
do not deserve the satisfaction.
You will not stoop to silent complaince,
Beneath your gown's hem is your privacy,
which you will protect in this defiance---
your feet, at least, deserve this liberty.
