At The Rich Young Man's Rejection Of Christ's Counsel

[after Mark 10:21]

(for Lady Certainly)

Refused, Jesus still did not chase him down;

or corner him, wearing a frenzied frown,

or bring a Hebrew scroll down on his head,

or tell Him, "You are just as good as dead,"

with high pitched tone and maybe some spewed drool

sprayed from His mouth as He began to yell

(if nothing else to save the man from hell)

before calling him a pathetic fool.

Jesus did none of this, and nothing like

the way you verbally attempt to strike.

Jesus still loved him as he walked away.

Perhaps Christ's Words would lead him back some day.

Meanwhile, Jesus did not intend to trample

this man beneath some self-righteous example.
