Author's Notes/Comments:
This is a family secret that I have been able to piece together, not very well, with little detail. Forty-eight years ago, I first heard hints that the circumstances around the birth of my great grandmother, Lucinda, were questionable enough to cause a huge rift in my family when she married my great-grandfather David, who was then virtually disowned by his father, a so-called preacher of the Gospel. These circumstances were enough to cause my father to lie to my face when I asked directly what he knew of her (whom he called "Little Grandma" for her small stature), a lie I only recently discovered when I found Amy's tombstone.
