[in memory of the German poet, Novalis; and
the Russian poet, Boris Pasternak]
(November 20th, 1976 through January 2, 1977)
During the Holidays, we see complete
and unaviodably meant transformation
of mundane life into an expectation
of spiritual and ancient revelation;
and thus, in the excitement's joy, we meet---
without the interference of deceit---
to join each other in high celebration,
as we approach the hour with stockinged feet.
And though the worldly years have come and went,
Christmas bestows the same Grace in Advent.
Starward
