We handled that man's last publicity,
I think, with capital expediency.
After taking his shabby clothes away,
the Romans put him on public display.
At crucifixion they have never failed.
By mid-morning, the whole question was nailed
down. Pilate made his usual insult.
But death upon a cross is Rome's default
response to almost any agitation.
That even thwarted Pilate's hesitation.
Those Romans really have no sense of God;
they would trample all holy ground, roughshod.
Right glad I am to be a Sadducee,
and not some bumpkin out of Galilee.
Bur rather: tell me of your plans this week.
We have a lot of coming business. Speak!
Starward
