You say, "The deaths of five children hardly matter---
"because they were the children of the czar."
Consider, though, if the next victims are
your children: your relentless revolution
would seem more like a murderous intrusion,
and all your slogans would rapidly scatter.
Your dialectic Leninist theses
would change to tearful screams of "Mercy please."
And bloodshed for the "workers' paradise"
would be a nightmare easy to despise.
The vision sprung from Lenin's bulbous head
would fail to ease your sorrow for your dead.
And, athiestic, you might still pray that
God damns the comrades' proletariat.
Starward
