At The Sentencing Of The Apostle Saint Paul

That old man, Paul, he is the only one,

from this whole group, who is a citizen.

They call themselves "Christians"; but athiests

they are, denying Rome's divinities

and, even worse, the Roman Majesty's

accomplishments.  This man's name heads the lists

of those accused.  If I may make a pun

of sorts:  in good time, we will have beheaded

him and those lists.  Deaths will be multiplied---

like Simon, Paul's dear friend, soon crucified.

I find no errors:  they were fairly tried

and sentenced.  Take them now into the dreaded

death house that we all fear . . . the Mamertine

Prison.  Keep them wholly apart.  Yes, please---

the warrants for their deaths:  I need to sign.

(The Christians must think me a wretched sinner.)
Well, hurry---I cannot be late for dinner.
