Nocturnes: Fridays, September Through June, In The Sixties

The whole day had its excitement:
orange sherbet at lunch time;
the afternoon classes more leisured;
sometimes an extra, afternoon, recess;
and, in sixth and seventh grades,

the refereshing prospect of
two days' respite from the bullying
(because I was different, shy, awkard, unathletic).
But the best part of the day:
the new T.V. Guide had just
arrived in the mail,
listing the film to be featured
on the next day's, Saturday's, Shock Theater
(3:30 to 5:00 pm),

preceded by two Three Stooges' shorts,
on that new-fangled UHF channel.
