At The Heroin Dealer's Execution

Your suave demeanor and your sappy grin
will do you no good here. And no release
can be discussed now: you cannot connive
your way out of this final debacle.
From this night forward, you will ruin no lives
with that most noxious substance, heroin.
Among your many victims is my lover---
who, frail and weak as she has been, still strives
to wrest herself away, fully recover,
from that worst human frailty, addiction.
We will not call in the "authorities,"
nor turn you over, properly, to them.
Their charges are mere paper; they condemn
nothing, who can hardly obtain conviction.
Now we are going to take a little drive
out to the country---oh, it is just five
miles out, past woods, beside a flowing stream,
more deeply dark than even you could dream
where no one (except us) will hear you scream.
For weeks we have considered and rehearsed
this program, for our entertainment. First,
you will be beaten (but we keep the worst
for last); and then a slow, drawn out castration
concluded by total emasculation.
At some point, you will wish to sell your soul
that you can die. But we have more to do.
Ever heard tell of Saint Bartholemew?----
how he was cruelly martyred?---flayed alive?
Oh, we will draw it out. We will not halt
for any reason. But if you survive
you will be buried in a pit of salt.
How hard the vengeance of the brokenhearted.

Ah, right here is the place: time to get started.

Starward
