Life's Locomotion

I take two steps back

And notice I'm moving;

Is this train on track?

Is it time I'm losing?

In this train we come to life;

Learn to care for its engine and core,

Stumble and stride, become husband or wife,

But when does the engine speak no more?

Dreams turn to times we dreaded

And our train a burning comet in the sky;

No intent in sharing where it's headed

And exact time unknown unless a lie:

But we must worry not for the destination,

For life only exists without estimation.

Profound use of metaphor, and

Profound use of metaphor, and also a very wise message.
