The time was sweeter than any other I knew
or have known
such an innocent time
though we were well past our innocence
The light from the moon
danced upon the image
I would hold for a life time
the one to compare with all others

and that she comes through others
for one night of passion every ten years
and that night belonged to me and I took it
every hair standing on end
every exciting hope
every dream that dared become reality
all tucked in that one fleeting touch
This is all I live to recreate
the passage of time does not
dull the memory's ache
I wait till this one image
is nothing in time
nothing, but a range of sensory perception
that calls the depth of my emotions,
comandeering them
with an effortless and grateful obedience.
Oh that moon how it danced and lovingly so
on your shoulders and the stars were heard pining for you
to come to be with them and they took you away
and the moon and I wait for our long lost recreation day.
