Driving down that highway
I look for you in every windscreen
I miss the way you drove past
And flashed that cheecky grin
Day by day the grin turned
To light flickers and beeps
You'd give right of way on that turn
When all was oblivious.
You were a Perfect stranger
It was a funny thing when we both
almost missed the lights!
That skidding almost out of control
Was a sign of things to come
You were a perfect stranger
Till that day...
Every make and model is assessed
From as far a view as is offered
But none for so long have been
With you.
Hope flutters when descriptions
Reconcile and die invalidated in passing
Where are you?
My perfect stranger I wish I was
Never there that day
On the crossroads waiting
To see your slowly growing smile
Become my perfect wish
It's as if I was waiting all my life for you
