The daze of darkness upon us
Up is down, down is up
Capture the light that we may
become the beacons
Shining upon the edges
And remember these letters
L
O
V
E
Gathering the stories of brave souls
who fought demons among men
So that we may find,
The purest of its kind
in eternal flames
That consumed us
Leaving nothing but Truth
and the sound of the letters in my words
ringing through eternity.

Just revisited this one, and it is very appropriate reading for a Sunday morning. One of my two most favorite poets, Wallace Stevens, said that poetry helped a person to live life; and, in this poem, you give an excellent demonstration of how this works.

And thank you for the kind reply. I love what you said, in the comment, about living for eternity; one of the best expressions of our faith that I have ever encountered.

This is a magnificent poem---so I must respectfully disagree with the note that says it is neither the best nor worst: I suggest it is one of your best, based on both the classic compression in the verse, and the profundity of its content. It is easy for any poet to feel unsure about a poem (calling it neither the best nor the worst), but please be assured that it is a triumph of which you should be quite proud.

Love this title.
What a powerful write - that ending ripped through me.

Oh my giddy happiness! You do not know how much your comment means to me such aching eyes and heart pacified with just the name above and below this comment, I feel like I am lifted up in my spirits with powerful entities of thought, emotion and bravery who so beautifully whisper on the humblest of tones survivor, hold my hand together we are invincible, come let us fly! And we do! We missed you! Right AT?
