SIXTY YEARS

Sixty Years

Has it really been sixty years?

                                       How quickly time passes

The world and weather have changed

As well as the age of the masses

                                        My knees have been replaced

I have a walker that tells the tale

                                        My cataracts too are gone

Now I can see where I went wrong

I thought old age would be a blast

It didn’t turn out that way

                                         I lost too many friends

As did you, who are here today

So let’s enjoy the time we have left

Say “I love you” to those you hold dear

I love you classmates said I

While grinning from ear to ear

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem was written for the Sixtieth Class Reunion, 2013 of Clinton High School, Clinton, MA.   I have tried to write a poem for each of our class reunions which we have held every five years since we graduated.   This in itself was quite an accomplishment and the attendence was remarkable.  I'm looking forward to the next one.
