What is promulgated nowadays
is not science
but merely, the latest orthodoxy
Anyone that approaches this orthodoxy
with reason,
is quick to be labelled a heretic
That – in my mind, raises a few flags
of concern
For science, is not a faith-based
business
but is a living breathing animal
It only thrives with open debate
and challenge
To censor or demonize open debate
is to starve
that animal, of discovering the truth
And as we all know, the truth is
an enemy
only to tyrants, and those wishing to obfuscate
the truth
For only by open debate, and transparency
does truth
rise to the surface
Therefore, anyone suppressing debate
is in fact,
suppressing the truth as their agenda
For truth, has but one
enemy
and that enemy – is the lie
And if we let the lie
stand,
it becomes our ruler
Or as George Orwell
put it,
“If you want to know who rules over you, look at who you are not allowed to criticize.”

An indisputable defense of
An indisputable defense of science and logic with some brilliant persuasion:
"For science, is not a faith-based
business
but is a living breathing animal
It only thrives with open debate
and challenge"
It was very shrewd to emphatically point out:
"And as we all know, the truth is
an enemy
only to tyrants, and those wishing to obfuscate
the truth"
Those with a thirst for knowledge and ultimate reality don't fear uncensored debate. They welcome new ideas, even opposing ones, and are always willing to accept that they could be wrong. How else do we learn and allow the truth to "rise to the surface" as you said?
Great thinkers have always been feared by closed-minded fanatics so you're in good company.
George Orwell's quote was a perfect summation and is still relevant (especially!) today.
A convincing testimony in defense of reason.
The Rubicon has been Crossed
Uncensored debate is a criminal offense nowadays. The world has been approaching the Rubicon for some time. When it was crossed, I am not certain. But it was most certainly crossed, these last two years.
