There's no one to leave the light on
She comes home in the dark
Walks timidly up the path
Remembering a time when the light was on
He awaited her return , ensured she was safe
Now she watches over her shoulder as she enters her dark home
There's no one to leave the light on
No one to know if she's come or gone
No one to greet her, be happy to see her
Nothing but memory, dark and filled with dread
It's what she's always feared .... Being alone
She walks in, sighs and heads down the stairs
There's no one to leave the light on
The hall is dark, she stumbles but there's no one there
He would have caught her, laughed at her tripping on air
Greeted her with a smile and an embrace
The room wouldn't be cold and the light would be on
However as the door creaks open her heart races in fear
There's no one to leave the light on
But she fears someone is there
Waiting , lurking ... Biding time to fulfill his promise
One day you'll come home in the dark... The light won't be on ... No one will know
And forever you will be mine !
Taken from this place once filled with comfort
It now brings nothing but fear
There is no one to leave the light on
No one to hear her scream
No one to know she's unsafe
Though he's gone he rules her world
Controls her every thought
He was right there is no one to leave the light on
Will it be her last night?
Will he finally win the fight
She slowly turns on the light
Afraid of what she might see
She releases her breath and sighs relief
This won't be the night
She has made it to the light
Alive to continue the fight
She will make it through until the next time
She's reminded there's no one there
The light won't be on
Despite her desire to fight
He still rules her nights
However tonight the light shines bright and today she has won this fight !
