In A Violet Bar, In Downtown Scarlet 1957

Folder:
Her (Hope And End)

Violet drink

sitting in my hands

A cocktail stick

rotating between my finger

The dark scarlet light

Plays a feature across my face

As I stir my drink

Listening to the world around me

Violet girl

Standing on the stage

A microphone

Singing her heart to me

The mood swung beat

Plays a tune across my soul

As I look across the bar

To the girl I never had

Violet dress

Full of velvet purpose

A stern martini

Sits low in her hands

The stage swings it's tune

Between us both

But she isn't listening

She doesn't care

Violet bar

With it's sticky stains

Holds me to it's grasp

With lack of intuition

My drink looks at me

Seeming so empty

I order another drink

And one for the staff

Violet call

She looks over to me

Beckoning me her way

She waves her scarlet gloves

She says to me

"You dance, sam"

To which I reply

"Only with you"

Violet steps

We trace the floor

With our slow feet

To the scarlet tune

She looks me in the eye

As we slowly drift around

With her scarlet eye's

She embraces my heart

Violet hand

Embraces my own

I am no longer so blue

I am still not happy

But that's okay

Because I am now embraced

By the Scarlet Girl

And that's all that matters

Author's Notes/Comments:

Think back to those 1950's detective movies. And the dark bars run by seedy bartenders...and the singer with the brass band...
