Tucked away inside you
My surrogate womb
Plastic, clear twist capsule
Alone I see everything
On my own I hear words
Faint noises, faint emotions
She mutes my inner voice
Not science but unconscious choice
Umbilical cord around my mouth
Oblivious I rest my efforts
Upon the glass walls that I'm encased
Wonder surrounds life
I can only observe, it moves by
The capsule has no legs, or wheels, or wings to soar
Only oblong surfaces and tempered skin
Suffering in silence
We martyr ourselves
Buried alive
While breathing
Wishing
Someone would
Turn out the lights
Before we have to sleep
