when people say things just to say things
they only want to hear themselves talk
if they could just think those things more loudly,
they could hear themselves, what they say
and I wouldn’t have to listen to
useless, wasteful things;
watching words falling on the ground
words meant for things to be silent
or written in capital letters
shaded with bright reds and greens,
or collected and stored in boxes on shelves
labeled and saved for rainy days and poems.
words so loudly sleeping on the dirty ground
spit out from the mouths of the people who say things
just to say things,
because they cant hear what I say.
it makes them feel in control
it makes them feel in control
