Foul Rock

A remembered colossus from times back then
stood and began to sink as a statue crafted
by loving artisan and honor-bound men
who've passed as age claimed their heads.

The elemental draws the monolith down
'til its weather-beaten face is all it can show.
Eroded by the coast's wrath into a frown:
the stone's misery abounds.

A swift passage of time will bring smoothing sand
to file away any semblance of knowing --
only faint scarring will remain and withstand;
the beast stays buried, yet grand.
