Make Way Desert

I couldn't shed my
rhythm when I've
needed to at times
crucial to the moment.
I'd walk on sand in
attempted tumble
to divert the grin
that chews the grains be-
neath those drying out
in the furnace winds.
A stricken quota --
I seek escape and flee
to where these cryptids
cannot seek for me.
Glossed by cancerous
faults in my foremost
layer; I beg for
reprieve and find none.
My epidermis
clamors, hardens; sets
to something weathered
that objects to you,
and I am repelled,
revealed and allotted,
but no longer by you.
I continue and threats
rain down from my jaws,
but none come to blows
with the prediction
you've set aside for me.
While the stoning scales
make it hard to move;
I'll retain stillness
at your one behest.
I've found fault in you.
