Conventions of Light

The others in our lives reveal themselves

Intentions, desires and all they behold

In honesty they will say, and do, and be

And they will choose who accompanies them

We may yearn for another, in particular or not

Wishes may not be granted so forthright

But we must experience the genuine

And we must accept it as new

When one spot of sun doesn't linger for long

One cannot mourn it in the shade

To move on in triumph is to grow in your spirit

To fall in love once more is to live

Connections will fray and fall into chaos

The chaos is proof of the feelings being shared

Recovery is needed but it requires all your strength

And it will validate your humanity

The light from one love will fade into shadow

After you must allow yourself to bleed

Dress your wounds and rest for a spell

And journey forth to something better

Humanity is resilient, longing to succeed

Success is subjective and depends on our needs

The glitter or clatter may decide your means

But it does not take away the ache

Love in good health is something of a remedy

For ailments far and wide

It may not be enough to sustain us

But it's certainly worth a try.
