I know you hear it too…
You’re awake now,
And if only for a moment
You see the world for what it truly is
Behind the golden curtains…
This desolate wasteland,
This junkyard of faulty “machines”,
This graveyard forgotten names,
Lies still,
Engulfed in an atmosphere of distant echoes…
The grinding of rusted gears, as the world turns…
You’re awake now,
And if only for a moment
You see them for what they really are,
Their eyes full of shadows,
Their silver veins full of thick metallic blood
Flowing to alloy timers in the center of their chests..
To the sound of their mechanical voices,
You fall back asleep,
You hear the same faint grinding of rusted gears
Hanging off of every word they speak,
And I know you hear it too…
Great imagery.
