Spent all day in the sun
All I needed was good company
and I was sure to have fun
We would ride our bikes for hours
Climbing trees only feet off the ground
felt like being on top of towers
Summer nights we flew with the breeze
With laughter following close behind
As we chased and leaped to see how many lightning bugs we'd seize
We would make our own fun
And play all day outside
We had no clock so we did as we pleased till the absence of the sun
It was a time I will never forget
For as I grow older those simple things
Are the pure joys I so dearly miss
I use to think getting older Would bring lots of freedom
I see now that I have never felt more free
Than when I was a kid being goofy little ME
