Dearest friend, did you know that
I was your shadow?
That I have grown so used
Or perhaps so fond of
Your ways that
They are now my own.
And like my name sake
I am darker of mind
and spirit than yourself
A little more inclined
to wander on the dark side of the moon
to worry my tethers
To reveal myself in waves.
I never realised until now,
But your purity and poise
Deserve emulation
So I applied myself to the task at hand with relish
"I will do my best to be,
I thought,
I will mold and observe and become..."
As any sailor knows
It is impossible to ignore
the call of a siren beckoning
and thus my ship has
come to rest her weary bones
And sun herself on a sea swept rock
While I scour the beach
in memory's bane.
For anything to lead me
Back to water
Where its easier to see
and noiseless
as a silent wood
Where ivy chokes
the life out of wild roses.
I sit patiently
at your feet,
Goddess.
Waiting
for you to dispel your wisdom
or send me away.
