Searching

Searching for the road back Home,

On a path that seemed all right.

Lost, no matter where I roam.

Tinkered with my metronome,

Crazy tempo, what a night,

Searching for the road back Home.

Aptly lured to Excite Dome,

Surprise dive from such a height.

Lost, no matter where I roam.

Scanning lines of ancient tome,

Wanting answers to “Life’s Rite”,

Searching for the road back Home.

Surf the net with fine-toothed comb,

Never finding much sought Light.

Lost, no matter where I roam.

Patient gold waits ‘neath the chrome,

Aimless wander, fogging sight,

Searching for the road back Home.

Lost, no matter where I roam.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is my humbling attempt at writing a villanelle.

While writing this I had a cool revelation - QUIT searching. ALL I really NEED is right here, in front of me, inside of me. *sigh* And all that work (searching, roaming) for nothing? LOL

PRETTY POEM

A very nice Villanelle. You are so right, people go all around the world looking for themselves. When you are there all the time. Thanks for sharing your words.

Great poem. I loved your comment that we go through life searching, while to coin a famous song..."The hero lies in you" Great effort, hope to read more of your work.
