Like Janus, I have two faces
One looking forward
Sees colour
The beauty of the world
The forward face is determined
Aesthetic,
Is gentle, rapturous, artistic
It is jubilant, stunning
The other looking backwards
Stares at shades of grey
Discontent, unhappy
It sees nothing but
Mayhem, misery
Hears monotonous overtures
Of politicians and chaos
It witnesses death
Brutal and cold
I cannot balance the two faces
I want to look forward
But cannot help
Look behind
The torment
is too
painful to bear
For an eternity
