FOR AMAL
As you embark on a journey new
There is something I wanted
To tell you
Though we never knew each other
As cousins should
I have nothing else to offer
But my wishes and prayers true
I remember the few days we spent
Back in 95
I remember the naughty eyes and
That sweet smile
The poem we wrote
With a dusty chalk
I wonder if it’s still with you
Or withered
Like a barren stalk
I have no idea who you are
And what you like
I have been left outcast
Too long
Because (the family says)
I severed the ties that bind
But something deep inside
Still beckons me to write
And wish you well
In hope
