Morriston Hospital

Over looking from the hill

On a working class neighbour hood

Of mixed ethnic backgrounds

Like Heimdall* is a hospital

With its long corridors and open doors

Where smiles and nods are more contagious than

Bacteria in over crowded wards

Where life and death are pitched in a battle eternal

And the joy of saving lives beams

Transforming shadows of remorse to lessons learnt

In closed door M and Ms**

Where nights and days are no different

While rain and sunshine tap outside on windows

Where ambulances off load their contents

Attached to blinking reds of monitors and machines

Where death escorts with dignity and peace

And doctors and staff work round the clock

To make life worthwhile

This is Morriston hospital

Welcome to where I work.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I work at Morriston and love the place. It is a humble tribute to the institution
