A shadow lightly brushed the ground
As the sun mercilessly beat down,
Molten rays masking the guilt
That enshrouds the hearts of men.
A quiet breeze stirred the leaves
Of the tall, silent trees,
Caressing the smooth face of the earth
As perhaps a lover might.
He reached out to my heart;
His gentle touch moved my soul.
As he ran his fingers through my hair
He surrounded my entire existence.
With knowing that he could not stay
And sorrow filling this empty room-
We danced to an earthly tune
Of laughter, love and life.
As the sun slowly faded from the sky
He removed his presence from out my heart.
Brushing his lips lightly against mine
He backed away, a tear in his eye
And with a saddened smile,
He took to the skies,
Soaring farther and farther 'til out of sight.
I stood watching as he flew-
A solitary tear falling from my eye.
Through the sorrow and dark of night
Somehow I knew deep in my heart
That one day we would meet again.
Another beautiful poem.
