The Song of Life

Secular Poetry

When the ocean blue comes a-calling,

Then shall I see.

When the cry of the loon becomes a happy tune,

Then shall I hear.

Where the jaws of land arise to bite delicate cotton,

There I shall be.

When the wolf befriends the rabbit still,

Then shall I walk.

When the breath of wind is warm again,

Then shall I feel.

Where trees and leaves whisper soft,

There I shall sing.

When the babbling brook becomes a silent spring,

Then shall I speak.

When the headstrong sun shines no more,

Then shall I fear.

Where the colors of the sky intertwine,

There I shall fly.

When dragon's tears mingle with quiet rains,

Then shall I wonder.

When the gentle bird's wing meets the sky,

Then shall I soar.

Where human hand joins human hand,

There I shall live free.
