Against the pale complexion of his ashen skin,
the orange glow of the fires burned bright.
As he stood alone in the field, watching what remained of his kind rising into the star lit sky,
his eyes filled with sorrow.
The minds that fueled the new machines were not his own;
they died with the flesh bodies, and now he remained the last;
alone in a dark new world,
a mechanized hell where the only hope for a rebirth coursed through his veins.
He turned his eyes toward the heavens.
Good poem! I love the way it
Good poem! I love the way it vividly captures that one instant in time. Good writing and thanks for sharing.
Science Fiction?
I'm assuming this is science fiction? Very visual. I can almost see that fire, that star lit sky and the dark new world. A good poem! You might be interested in checking out my science fiction-inspired poem "3.3077 minutes ahead" :-)

Science fiction
yea, it is. The crazy thing though is I started out writing wanting to write horror stories, but this science fiction thing seems to come easier to me. I can sit for hours trying to think of some horror ideas and come up with nothing, but one little thought of machines or aliens and I'm writing like mad. Thanks for the compliment. It is always good to have others read and like them.
Sci-fi and horror are siblings :-)
The two genres are very closely related. There are some elements of horror in many common sci-fi themes...aliens, machines, time-travel, the end of the world....they are all fodder for a good horror story:-) Keep on writing!

Aliens
That true isn't it...that is why Alien is sometimes listed as one of the great horror movies of all time, even though still considered sci-fi. Great movie though. Even Predator could be considered one as well, because it has most of the basic elements of a slasher film.
