Tiptoe softly
ever so softly
Gentley treading around the surface
Don't you ever fall
I won't fall
I never fall
I'll hold my head high
Reach my arms up to the sky
Sometimes I think
I'm touching God
Sometimes I think that I can fly
on waves of euphoria
that I bought for twenty bucks
Not a bad price to pay
So I streach my arms up to the sky
and dance a sacred dance so close
to the blackened velvet edge
and pray that there's no wind
Eyes closed tight
I just bought paradise
for another forty bucks
I can feel so close
I can touch the sun
I can touch the sky
and the angels bow to me
But I don't know if
I'll keep my balance
How many more times
till I trip and fall
Hard to know where you're
going with your eyes lifted
to distant mountains
crashing into distant silver shores
of semi-silent seas
that whisper poetry
of the not so sane
but I've got to keep my balance
for the water is so deep
and somewhere down the line
I don't know when it happened
But I've forgotten how to swim
