Nocturnes: American Terrarium
We have enough water in distillation
for every person living in this nation,
and every acre under cultivation.
And in this gentle, balmy temperature
(the kind that people and their crops prefer)
the likelihood of total devestation
can be forestalled. But---this is emphatic---
birth and death rates must keep even, or static;
and any spike in them has to be curbed;
to maintian balance underneath this dome
of clear crystal, our well appointed home---
its equilibrium quite undisturbed.
