THE STORY OF WE YOU I AND THEY

Folder:
OLDIE MOLDIE

there’s a whimper

no one dares to hear

everybody sees

but no one cares

forsaken, destitute

'They' clings for hope

until none is left

then torches of

light appear

a beacon of hope

holding them are

'We' 'You' and 'I'

'We' lives a righteous life

that’s what ‘We’ thinks

‘You’ has vast fortune

he shares some he boasts

‘I’ stands for his beliefs

but does it count much?

the torches of light fade and die

‘We’ ‘You’ and ‘I’

just shrug a shoulder

‘They’ struggles

but fails

cast down

lost

their story

has no end

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this thinking of the poor and forsaken members of our society, ravaged with hopelessness and bowed down in spirit.  I wonder if we, you, and I, the more fortunate ones, have all done our fair share in alleviating their sufferings and miseries.

Hello There, This is so descriptive of our attitude to poverty and misery, but, even though you and I may write about it, will we, (all of us),ever DO anything about it. The world is a beautiful place, but, add people and we spoil it!. Nice writing.I enjoyed it. Best regards, Norman (lazidaze)

Very interesting commentary...and we should consider if we have "done our share" always...it helps balance out the injustices in life...Thanks for a poetic insight.

Hey, Serene! I have several pieces at my page on the same or similiar subject. (Apathy is one off the top of my head) I love the concept of the piece, and your comments reiterated it. A wonderful piece of poetry, and leaves the reader pondering if he/she has done their part. You have touched the souls of your audience. The greatest accomplishment of any writer. Thanks for the food for thought!
