A small child beyond infancy
Looked away from his juvenile picture.
Away from the curved lines,
Hid away his true self.
An elderly man beyond age
Cast away his woven shovel.
Away from the sweat he shed,
Toiling away from his chosen path.
A feeble teenager entering adulthood
Ventures away from her broken stronghold.
Away from the thoughtless, consequential night,
Taking away Earth’s blessing.
Married couples enter church
Praying and pining for offspring.
Failing faith questions,
Answers not to be known.
God looks down on his creations
How can one look away, one cast away, one venture away?
When so much blood and tears are shed,
For the treasure they destroyed?
