Failed Trust
Friendship trusts without asking,
Believing in the other's good.
How I wish I could take back
The doubts- would that I could!
I've destroyed the very thing
That I thought was always there.
Why did I lose inner sight
And fall prey to questing care?
I deserve this loneliness;
I merit bleak aftermath.
I failed myself, failed my friend.
I deserve to shoulder wrath.
Let me have learned the lesson
For this pathway has been rough.
Friendship trusts without asking;
Loving trust should be enough.
