Elizabeth Holtzman's Lawsuit Against The Nixon Administration

*

In 1970 Brooklyn congresswoman Elizabeth Holtzman sued Schlesinger, the Secretary of Defense over the illegal and immoral bombing of Cambodia. The Supreme Court eventually denied her suit falsely deciding she had no standing. Her affirmation was that as a US congresswoman her right to vote on war had been denied by Kissinger Nixon & Schlesinger

In 1970 as now, Republicans fraudulently attaining the White House and Supreme Court were aligned with the military to prosecute illegal wars. Then more than now, the Democrats were opposed to the violent stupid wars. Justice William O Douglas was not only a powerful supporter of the environment (and author of the legal brief that trees have standing in court). He was also a courageous opponent of the Kissinger Nixon war and issued a ruling during a court recess based on Holtzman's suit that the bombing must stop cease. Nixon violated both Congress & Justice Douglas' ruling. But the next day the Warren Berger court would overrule Douglas.Nixon and Kissinger resumed bombing, based on fallacious arguments by assistant

attorney general Wm Rehnquist's brief which held that the executive branch and the mlitary were above the law.. Next Elizabeth Holtzman, Brooklyn repre., sued on the basis that the unconstitutional act of Nixon violated her right to vote. In 1970 as now, Republicans fraudulently attaining the White House and Supreme Court were aligned with the military to prosecute illegal wars. Then more than now, the Democrats were opposed to the violent stupid wars. The story of Nixon, Kissinger, Schlesinger, the military, SCOTUS and Wm Rehnquist (then asst. attorney general) and their contempt for Congress which had defunded the bombing campaign and gone ahead with the violence anyway, is a labyrinthine tale. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schlesinger_v._Holtzman
