In The Dawn Rhodescent

Folder:
Resurrection

In the dawn rhodescent

by the moon grown crescent

sat a pinkling baby cloud

under a twinkling purple star

Sunwands kindling

spun him into gold

and sprinkling amber embers

did the world enfold

Then his beams gave luster

to the grap-ed cluster

and shone on raspberry vines

entwining a clothesline

Next he filled the cherries

with sunbeam bubbled cream

and gilded the heartwings

of Godplanted daydreams

While the wind was wending

through a grove of green

Daystar wound much higher

Never heard.. only seen

Soon cloud was pregnant

greygrown with desire

and began to weep

hiding orb ascending

Lanterns in the cobbled

puddles glimmering

Puddles married into

brooklets flowing

Each raindrop a candled jewel

Seed of life the light reflecting

of each curtained window

and each hearthlight glowing

But cloud spent her life in giving

Sun began again to sparkle

multiplied into a million mirrors

on a quiet turquoise sea

Velvet twilight on the gloaming

twas the evening now a coming

on the sea a moonbeam staircase

to an inky sea of stars

Night be false! Not sun unfaithful

We the ones who turned away

We on earth distracted fickle

Could not stay with light eternal

But the prodigals returning

toward the Eastern gate we gaze

greet the Father always burning

with the smile of love unbounded

than the sun's..

S Gleason read this
before his death in
the 80's and said
he liked the line
'puddles married into
brooklets flowing'
