Blackbird Mist

Folder:
A Fellow Creature

Ann described the Army's

decision to kill

tens of thousands

of Kentucky's Fort Campbell area

blackbirds by spraying them

with detergent.

In the winter

the heat from their bodies rose

as gentle mist

as they slowly froze

..

as if their spirits were visible

in leaving their bodies below

Amazing! Truely amazing! I really like the imagery of the mist rising from their dead bodies and then the comparison between that and their souls. Great work!
